SCENE 01 / GRIP EQUIPMENT SERVICES

Grip Services

Professional grip crews and equipment for camera and lighting support across Indonesia.

Scroll

Here is how this works in practice. Grip kit services give the mechanical support hardware and rigging that shapes light and positions cameras on set. In Indonesia, grip teams work across Jakarta production facilities and on location across Bali, Java, and the wider archipelago, using specialized rigging for varied terrain and tropical conditions.

Here is the short of it. We source grip kit and skilled grip crews who know the physical demands of pro set work in Indonesia's tropical environment. With packages ready from Jakarta-based rental houses, our team sets up gear with your key grip's specs, making sure reliable operation in heat and humidity.

On Location

Our grip equipment services support productions across Indonesia, supplying dollies, cranes, track and rigging from a Jakarta and Bali base to locations from megacity interiors to volcanic exteriors.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. We give grip kit and crews from an inventory and crew base in Jakarta and Bali, supplying the rigging, support and camera-movement hardware that shoots depend on. Our packages cover dollies and track, camera cranes and jibs, stands, flags and diffusion, scaffolding and the rigging needed to mount cameras and lighting in difficult positions. Skilled key grips work with the DP and gaffer to plan moves, level track and rig safely, scaling kit from a lean documentary package to a full feature complement.

Here is how the picture comes together. Indonesia's tropical climate shapes how grip departments operate, so track and dollies are levelled and covered on soft, often wet ground, rigging hardware is inspected for corrosion in humid, salt-air conditions, and weather cover is built into each plan against sudden downpours. Crews account for the heat when handling heavy kit through long shoot days. For shoots reaching Bali, Yogyakarta or remote islands, we build transport-efficient packages that move by road, flight and boat, supplementing the core team with local grips familiar with the terrain.

Here is what we have to work with. Indonesia's two production centres of Jakarta and Bali anchor a fast-growing film industry. The grip and rental base has expanded alongside heavy streaming investment from Netflix and others. Jakarta, the megacity capital, hosts the deepest pool of grip kit and skilled crew, and large or pro shoots supplement kit from Jakarta and, where needed, from Singapore. The country's location range is extraordinary, from high-rise Jakarta interiors and the UNESCO-listed Borobudur to Bali's sea temples and the volcanic terrain of a nation with around 130 active volcanoes, each making its own demands on grip and rigging.

Here is the layout. Foreign shoots need filming permits. ATA carnets are accepted for incoming grip and rigging gear, simplifying the movement of dollies, cranes and track. English is widely used in the film-services sector, above all in Bali, so global key grips set up easily with local crew. The dry season, roughly April or May to September or October, gives the firmest ground and steadiest conditions for exterior grip work.

FAQ

Our Grip Network

What does a grip department do?

Here is the breakdown. The grip department supports both camera and lighting. They operate dollies, cranes, and camera support gear for camera moves. They also handle all non-electrical lighting support: stands, rigging, diffusion frames, flags, and bounce/negative fill.

What positions are in a grip department?

Key Grip leads the department and works closely with the gaffer and DP. Best Boy Grip manages gear and logistics. Dolly Grip operates camera dollies. Company Grips handle general grip work. Rigging Grips focus on pre-rigging and construction.

When do I need a grip vs. an electrician?

Electricians handle anything electrical—lights, power distribution, cables. Grips handle physical support and rigging—stands, camera movement gear, flags, diffusion frames. The gaffer supervises electrics. The key grip supervises grip.

What equipment is included in grip packages?

Grip packages mostly have C-stands, flags, nets, silks, bounce boards, apple boxes, sandbags, clamps, and basic rigging. Dollies, cranes, and specialty gear are mostly extra items quoted separately.

Do your grips have rigging certifications?

Yes. Our rigging grips hold appropriate certifications for overhead work, truss systems, and safety rigging. Complex rigging work is supervised by certified rigging supervisors meeting industry safety needs.

Can you provide grip trucks with equipment?

We set up complete grip truck packages through our rental partners. These have the truck, driver, and full grip kit. Crew is booked separately based on your production's needs.

Productions in Indonesia that need this often pair it with Portable Power Solutions, Gaffer & Lighting Services, and LED Lighting Systems for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Lighting & Grip and Green Screen Filming.
