Focus Pullers / 1st ACs

Here is what that looks like on the ground. We supply focus pullers, or first assistant camera, for shoots across Indonesia, drawing on tech talent based in Jakarta and Bali. The focus puller is responsible for keeping sharp focus through each take: setting marks, pulling focus live, managing lenses and filters, building and keeping the camera, and supervising the rest of the camera department. Our team matches the focus puller to the production and can staff a complete camera crew. This includes operators, second ACs, loaders and DITs.

Here is how the picture comes together. Our focus pullers are proficient across the major camera systems. This includes ARRI, RED and Sony Venice, and with wireless focus platforms such as Preston and ARRI's own systems, adapting fast to whatever package is ready from Indonesian rental houses. Costs are settled in Indonesian rupiah. Our focus pullers for global shoots communicate fluently in English with the cinematographer and operator while working seamlessly alongside local crew. Pulling focus in Indonesia carries specific tech demands.

Here is what we have to work with. The country is tropical and equatorial, hot and humid, and a first AC manages condensation on glass and sensors as a routine part of the job, above all when moving between air-conditioned interiors and humid exteriors. Shooting conditions are different and often challenging, from controlled studio work in Jakarta to handheld and moving-camera setups on rice terraces, beaches and volcanic slopes, where reliable marks and confident judgement matter.
