Feature Film Production

Here is what that looks like on the ground. We give full-service production support for feature films across Indonesia, setting up each logistical element from pre-production through wrap. Our producers manage crew assembly, gear sourcing, location scouting and securing, and the daily operations a feature schedule demands. We draw department heads, directors of photography, gaffers, grips and construction, from a crew base concentrated in Jakarta and Bali, scaling from lean independent units to full studio shoots of 150 or more.

Here is how the picture comes together. Indonesia's geography is both an asset and a logistical challenge. We plan archipelago movement around the domestic flight network through Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai, gear trucking and inter-island transfers so a production can reach the locations a script needs. We secure the filming permits foreign shoots set up through the relevant ministries, support global co-productions structures, and schedule principal photography inside the dry-season window for reliable conditions. Mains power runs at 230V/50Hz and driving is on the left, both factored into transport and lighting planning.

Here is what we have to work with. Post-prod is set up through Indonesian facilities working to global standards. Indonesia has a large and fast-growing domestic film industry, one of Asia's biggest by cinema admissions, and a worldwide major body of cinema: Gareth Evans's Jakarta-shot 'The Raid' and 'The Raid 2', Joko Anwar's horror films 'Satan's Slaves' and 'Impetigore', and Mouly Surya's 'Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts'. Hollywood has shot here too, with 'Eat Pray Love' filming its Bali chapter on the island.

Here is the layout. Indonesia is an emerging, cost-competitive destination that draws global features for an extraordinary location range rather than a single headline rebates scheme. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy promotes the creative economy and supports film. The canvas is vast, the world's largest archipelago of some 17,000 islands, from Javanese palaces and the UNESCO-listed Borobudur to Bali's temples, around 130 active volcanoes, and the marine wilderness of Raja Ampat. English is widely used in the film-services sector and strongly so in Bali. The currency is the Indonesian rupiah and VAT is charged at 11%.
